Beta notes

What the site does

Lake Wind Watch tells you whether and when it is worth going to Lago di Santa Croce over the next few days.

Every hour it reads several weather models, identifies the wind regime and turns it into an hourly window with mean speed and gusts in knots.

Every night it compares the forecast with what the station actually measured.

What to expect

  • Verification started on 4 September 2026: the reliability numbers are still few and not very meaningful.
  • The verdict thresholds are tuned on a handful of rider ratings and will change.
  • The 100 m detail map is a plausible diagnostic computation, not verified on the lake.
  • The reference anemometer reads less than the real wind on the water: a 7 kt mean day can already be excellent.

What we need from you

Reports about days when the site got it wrong are the most useful thing: tell us the hour, what the site said and what the lake actually did.

A few lines are enough: every report feeds the tuning of the thresholds.
